Vessel Manager Marine and QA

Job Overview:

The Vessel Manager Marine & QA position will be responsible for the safety and risk management performance of a group of assigned vessels.

The role requires regular communication with assigned vessels to ensure full compliance with the company’s policies and ISO certifications, as well as regularly engaging with vessels’ Masters and Safety Officers to mentor and engage on issues related to safety, risk management, health & well-being and safety improvement initiatives. Furthermore, the role is responsible for administration of marine, safety and vetting activities of the Company such as internal and external audits, harmonised inspections (navigational assessments) and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The Vessel Manager Marine & QA reports to the Fleet Marine, QA & Vetting Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the routine safety activities of assigned vessels.
  • Guaranteeing the completion and outcome of the Safety Inspection report.
  • Supporting stakeholders in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing effective policies, processes, procedures, plans and guidelines to ensure that the Company’s objectives are met.
  • Analyse safety performance and statistics to drive safety improvement programmes.
  • Upon assignment conduct incident investigations, overseeing the timely completion of the investigation and close actions, as well as and prepare safety statistic reporting, as required.
  • Carry out ship visits and complete the relevant reports.
  • Perform internal ISM/ ISO audits
  • Maintain Navigational Standards – Navigational assessments Review and respond to the Navigation Audit reports.
  • Assist in preparing external audits.
  • Arrange statutory inspections and audits.
  • Liaison with Flag for dispensations and extensions for drills and audits when required.
  • Management of the outcome of Port State Control inspections (including uploading the necessary documents and information on the OCIMF website).
  • Training and mentoring Master’s and ship’s crews on HSEQ matters.
  • Reviewing risk assessments prepared by the crew.

 

Requirements:

  • Master Mariner with seagoing experience and 3 years of experience in a Marine Superintendent / HSEQA Manager position or similar role.
  • Track record of delivering outstanding performance and/or risk management.
  • Strong team player with the ability to engage others and develop shared objectives.
  • Availability to travel 15% of the time.

 

Desirable:

  • Gas/LPG Shipping experience.
  • ISM/ISO auditor qualified.
  • Incident/accident investigation.
